Thank you for considering IvyCrest for your childīs education. Our admission process serves several important purposes. It allows you, the parent, to become better acquainted with our mission and practices. Likewise, it provides us with the opportunity to learn about your expectations and goals for your childīs education. It also gives families who are new to Montessori an excellent introduction to the philosophy and methods of a Montessori education in general.
IvyCrest admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin, to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational and administrative policies, scholarships or any other school programs. The goal of IvyCrest is to admit students and families who share and support our school values, and who will bring cultural, social, economic, and ethnic diversity to our classrooms.
Prospective parents are encouraged to call the main office at (714) 8796091 for our Fullerton campus or (714) 7772511 for our Yorba Linda campus. You will be invited to schedule an appointment to tour the school and meet with the School Director or Administrator. This will give you an opportunity to tour our campus and to ask important questions about the programs we offer and of our teaching staff.
When you arrive, you will need to complete our Guest Information Form, then you will be given a guided tour of the campus and receive an informational packet. You will observe students experiencing their typical school day: academics, computer classes, art, music, and play activities. We will discuss a comprehensive overview of IvyCrest, the Montessori curriculum, our School of the Arts, enrichment programs, special events and more. After you have finished the tour of the campus, you will have an opportunity to discuss tuition rates, fees, and services. Individual concerns about your child may also be discussed at this time.
An application form and request for transfer of records will be found in the guest packet you receive during your school tour. The following items must be submitted before we will consider an applicantīs file complete:
Applications are accepted throughout the year. However, placement shall depend upon the space available. From February 1st through March 15th of each year, the students currently enrolled shall have priority enrollment. For optimum consideration of the upcoming school year, please submit your childīs application prior to March 15th. When space becomes available, students will be admitted according to the following schedule:
Upon receipt of your childīs complete application form and fee, you will be contacted regarding your childīs placement within our school. We will be setting up an appointment to complete an enrollment packet, which will include the schoolīs contract and other necessary documents for enrollment. During this appointment the schoolīs policies, financial responsibility, and the familiesī involvement and commitment will be thoroughly discussed. Prior to leaving, an appointment will be set with your childīs teacher for your classroom orientation.
IvyCrest does not accept parent requests for classroom placements. Classrooms are formed with an emphasis on balance of gender and age ranges. These placement decisions are made by the educational staff. Elementary students new to IvyCrest will be asked to visit and spend a week at school for evaluation and assessment prior to acceptance.
Parents will have the opportunity to meet with the teacher after verification of a completed enrollment packet. The purpose of this meeting is to get to know the teacher and for her to learn more about your child. She will share information regarding the parent handbook, school calendar, curriculum, daily schedule, and her expectations. She will then schedule a classroom visit for your child.
In order to have a successful transition, IvyCrest offers a classroom visit prior to the child's official entry date. For primary level students, this visit will be 1-2 days, 3-4 hours each day.
The elementary students are requested to visit for an entire week. During this week they will be given a tour of the entire campus and be introduced to their classmates. A member of the teaching staff will evaluate and administer any testing that may be required. At the end of the week, an appointment will be set with the Director to complete the enrollment process.
